Domain registrars, compared on price
Every registrar whose published prices this index reads, measured on the same 540 extensions. There is no editorial ranking here and no affiliate order: the columns are counted from the price table, once a day.
On the extensions two registrars both sell, Cloudflare is cheapest to renew more often than anyone else here. Porkbun carries the widest catalogue, at 540 extensions against Cloudflare's 398 — so the cheaper registrar is not always the one that sells what you want.
| Registrar | Extensions | Median renewal | Cheapest renewal | Cheapest on | Transfer quoted |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Porkbun | 540of 540 | $29.35 | Free | 146 | Yes |
| Cloudflarevia mirror | 398of 540 | $30.20 | $5.18 | 394 | No |
Why the median column does not decide it
Each registrar's median is taken over its OWN catalogue, and the catalogues are different sizes. A registrar that carries a long tail of cheap extensions gets a lower median without being cheaper on anything you are likely to buy. The “cheapest on” column avoids that: it counts extensions where no other registrar here beats that one, compared like with like.
The head-to-head pages do the same, over the extensions two registrars both sell.
Compare two registrarsHow each price is sourced
- Porkbun
- Porkbun's own public price API. No key required.
- Cloudflare
- Cloudflare publishes no price API and renders its price page client-side. Figures come from the cfdomainpricing.com mirror, which stamps every TLD with its own confirmation date. Cloudflare sells at cost and quotes no transfer fee.
Counted across 540 priced extensions, of 1,438 that IANA delegates. Prices exclude taxes and the ICANN transaction fee. Premium and reserved names are quoted individually.
